Fundraise for NYGH

Decembeard 2019

This December, put down that razor and join cancer surgeon Dr. Usmaan Hameed and NYGH Foundation as we raise funds and awareness for colorectal cancer in both men and women.

This year, funds raised will support a new peer support network for our young patients (both men and women) with colorectal cancer.

Not able to grow a beard? No problem! You can still fundraise and support NYGH patients and the Colorectal Cancer Program at NYGH.

Our goal is to raise $10,000 for a new peer support network for young patients with colorectal cancer.

Young patients often struggle with their diagnosis and find themselves feeling isolated and without support while they navigate this difficult time in their life. The peer support network will provide:

- A one on one peer contact that the patient can speak with, get advice from and lean on.
- Counselling throughout their journey.
- Support from other patients in the network who will provide assistance, comfort and encouragement during their treatment.

We are calling on you to help support colorectal cancer patients by growing beards during the month of December, and raising money for NYGH's Colorectal Cancer Program. No beard? No problem, you can join in on the fun too by posting photos wearing a fake beard, or dying the tips of your hair - you can get as creative as you'd like!
