I am proud to fundraise as part of the Stellar Moments of Community Concert in support of the Birthing Centre at North York General.

On March 23, 2024, our community will gather for the second “North York General Foundation’s Stellar Moments of Community” at the acoustically and visually stunning Lyric Theatre – Meridian Art Centre in the heart of North York. Featuring performances with Cantopop and English Rock guest singers, mini-musicals with the Trendnity Theatre Co., The Dream Makers (Choir), classical pianist performances, and Sonic Fire, a live band spreading positive energy and a message of love.

Proceeds will support the development of a modern, integrated Birthing Centre at North York General Hospital, which will be designed for every family and every community, with sensitivity to family and cultural traditions.

From pregnancy to childbirth, through to the care of a newborn and beyond, NYGH is where thousands of families, from countless cultures and traditions, have experienced expert and compassionate care. In the last 50 years, their expertise, capacity and breadth of service has increased profoundly. But the Post-Partum Unit has not received any substantial updates since the hospital opened in 1968, and the Labour & Delivery Unit has aged since its opening almost 20 years ago. The aging physical space does not reflect the modern standard of comfort that our mothers, babies, and families need and deserve. To meet these and other urgent needs, NYGH is embarking on an ambitious project to transform our aging Labour & Delivery and Post-Partum Units into a modern, integrated Birthing Centre. It will be designed for every family, and every community.
